Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has stated that his side are dreaming of FA Cup glory, but knows that the Wearside club will have to beat some strong sides to lift the trophy.
The Black Cats beat Arsenal 2-0 on Saturday to make the quarter finals, where they will now face Everton at Goodison Park for a place in the last four.
Cattermole is hopeful that his men can continue their cup run, and has praised his team-mates for their efforts of late.
“We know that if we are going to win the Cup, we will have to beat some of the best teams somewhere along the line. We have done that here with Arsenal,” he told Mirror Football.
“There is a lot of confidence in the team because things are going right for us. We are just rolling from each game to the next. We have a lot of momentum and I do not think there has really been a dip in any of the games under the new manager. We have had a lot of matches and some difficult questions have been asked of us but if you look at the effort the lads are putting in, it is unbelievable.
“Both Stephane Sessegnon and James McClean have been great for us. They have that pace and they can both beat a man so they are great at taking the pressure off the rest of the team.
“When the opposition have a lot of the ball and you are working really hard, it is great to be able to give the ball to the likes of them because you know they can beat a man and take you 30 yards up the pitch. That takes so much pressure off you. It gives you a breather and enables you to build from there.
“We can’t get carried away and we’re not going to. If you look at what we have done over the last few months, we have never allowed ourselves to get ahead of ourselves. What we did here is exactly what we are about. We are hard to beat and I thought we wanted it more than them. We tackled, we passed and I thought we were the better side,” he concluded.
