Loads of Everton fans on Twitter have been reacting to comments made by Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas in the build up to their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The Toffees will look to extend their unbeaten top-flight run to five matches by avoiding defeat against the Eagles, and Nicholas has delivered his latest set of predictions for the weekend’s matches.
He may have backed a 1-1 draw rather than a defeat for the Merseyside outfit, but some of the things he said in his piece have certainly produced a response from plenty of Evertonians, including former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke being backed to score despite having none to his name this season in 16 appearances.
One of his main topics of discussion was the 3-2 win against Watford last weekend – where Carlo Ancelotti’s men came from two goals down to record a victory late on – while he also talked about a number of individual players such as Richarlison, Theo Walcott and Jordan Pickford, too.
One supporter simply said “he hates us” following his generally negative comments, while another individual labelled the pundit as a “clown & irrelevant”.
Others chose to go a step further and criticise the attention to detail in his comments, with one individual clearly taking offence to the fact he said Everton were “absolutely abysmal” when they were 2-0 down last weekend.
They also pointed out that Richarlison has been playing up top rather than on the left like Nicholas said, and how Walcott hasn’t actually been improving at all despite his winner against Watford.
Better research is probably needed from the former Arsenal player next time, then.
In other Everton news, one man has expressed his surprise that the club wanted to bring him to Goodison Park…
